Pahoa, HI - Main Street Pahoa Association and Friends of Puna's Future present the candidates running for incumbent Emily Naeole's 5th district county council seat. All 5 candidates were in attendance, answering questions and discussing the issues important to Puna, the county's fastest growing district. Kale Gumapac, Wayne Joesph, Emily Naeole, Gary Safarik and Kaniu Stocksdale took questions from moderators Hunter Bishop and Mike Hale. The format gave all of the candidates a chance to answer, and allowed a closing rebuttal to the candidate who started off. At the end, the candidates all gave a 4 minute closing statement. As I have with the mayoral forums in the recent past, I have broken this forum down into separate video sections to allow visitors to jump from one topic to another. You will notice that under the "round two" section, there is a candidates name in parenthesis before the subject of the question. This is because the questions in round two were fashioned for the response of that candidate in particular. All candidates were allowed a chance to speak in this round, also, and candidates did not always decide to take that opportunity. The primary election is on September 20th, 2008.
