September
22, 2008 - Hilo, HI - Located
along the Wailuku River, Boiling
Pots gets its name from the
large pools, connected by an
underground lava tube, that
produce a bubbling torrent that
gives the appearance of boiling
water.
The boiling pots are downstream
of Pe`epe`e Falls, which changes
size and volume depending on
the recent rainfall amounts.
Although the waterfall and boiling
pots are visible from an overlook
next to the parking area, a
closer look can be had with
an easy scramble down the hill.
Swimming is prohibited, but
that doesn't always stop an
adventurous few from taking
a dip.
