Two arrests in Waikoloa drug bust

Police recover meth, marijuana worth $3,500

April 15, 2010 – Waikoloa, Hawaii

Hawaii Police arrested a man and a woman for alleged crystal methamphetamine trafficking and other drug offenses on Monday in Waikoloa.

According to a police media release, Area II Vice Section served a search warrant on a sedan occupied by 24-year-old Hazel Silva of Kailua-Kona and 26-year-old Tuivai Uele of California during a traffic stop at 10 a.m. on Route 190 near the Waikoloa junction. During the search, police recovered 11 grams of crystal methamphetamine and a glass smoking pipe containing marijuana. Together, police estimate the drugs have a street value of $3,500.

Silva and Uele were each charged with one count of meth trafficking, promoting a dangerous drug, promoting a detrimental drug and two counts of drug paraphernalia.

Silva’s bail was set at $56,250 for the drug offenses. She also was arrested and charged on a bench warrant with bail for that set at $300. Uele’s bail was set at $281,000.
