In this video, Tom Hickcox talks about ongoing efforts to refurbish the historic Ahu’ena Heiau in Kaliua-Kona.

Ahuena Heiau, Inc is the non-profit group leading the effort. They are seeking the community’s support to help gather another 100,000 yellow or brown ti leaves to complete the job.

The ti leaves may be dropped off daily between now and Sunday, June 6 at King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel. Go to the hotel’s security guard shack at the entrance to the parking lot for instructions on where to drop off the ti leaves. King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel, where the heiau is located, is giving away $25 gift cards redeemable towards a future stay at the hotel for all leaf donations

The Ahu’ena Heiau is a treasured Hawaiian cultural landmark, and was the personal heiau of Kamehameha the Great, who rededicated it to Lono.
