Over 279 square feet of retial space are being planned for 25.4 acres of land in Hilo.
The area, being called the Hualani Point Shopping Center, abuts Kanoelehua Avenue, Hualani Street and the main runway area of Hilo International Airport.
Property Development Centers, a subsidiary of the Safeway supermarket chain, is hoping to anchor the site with a 135,000-square foot “home improvement center” that is yet to be named.
The developer was the successful bidder for the 65-year lease which includes land owned by the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands and the Department of Land and Natural Resources.

I think Lowes will probably be the anchor and also sounds like Petco might be part of this development also.
It’s about time Hilo starts proceeding in the right direction. This will definitely help stimulate the area’s stagnant economic standing.
