Greenwell arrest
One week removed from the traffic stop that resluted in the arrest of a Hawaii County Councilman, and the now complete story is beginning to taking shape.
Big Island Video News interviewed the both the North Kona Councilman Kelly Greenwell and the Hawaii County Police Deparmtent Assistant Chief Henry Tavares about the incident that made headlines across the entire state. Now, in their own words, an account of what happened on July 17th on Queen Kaahumanu Highway.
Greenwell’s court date is set for August 12th.

Only a few days after he resigned his position as Mayor of Honolulu in order to officially file to run for Governor of Hawaii, Mufi Hannemann opened his Kona campaign headquarters.
A crowd of supporters gathered at the new Kopiko Street location, right next to The Club on Palani Road, to hear the local music of L.T. Smooth, as well as the candidate himself.
Hannemann stressed his ties to the Big Island.
Hannemann is facing off with former U.S. Rep. Neil Abercrombie for the Democratic nomination for governor.
Lt. Governor Duke Aiona is running on the Republican ticket.
