PUNA, Hawaii: There are three Hawaii County Council candidates in the running to represent the mauka half of Puna… District 5 includes the subdivisions along Volcano Road, like Hawaiian Acres, Fern Forest, and Mountain View.
At a recent forum we heard what two of the three candidates – Steven Araujo and Zendo Kern – had to say about their plan for the district.
Not present for the forum: Liscencio Ceredon, owner of Mamo Produce in Hilo.
During the forum hosted by Big Island chronicle at the Akebono Theater in Pahoa, which was moderated by Kathy Frankovic, the two candidates expressed their thoughts on topics like trash, geothermal energy, and the new building codes, passed to the dismay of many residing in Puna.
