STORY SUMMARY

HILO, Hawaii - As Hawaii enters a busy holiday travel season, state lawmakers seem divided on the need for an Airport Authority.

(BIVN) – A push for an Airport Authority in Hawaii is dividing the state legislature.

State Senator Lorraine Inouye is an advocate for the airport authority, but she says the State House has not been as receptive.

On October 30, Inouye and State Representative Mark Nakashima talked about the idea of an airport authority during a Japanese Chamber of Commerce & Industry of Hawaii forum at the ‘Imiloa Astronomy Center in Hilo. Sherry Bracken served as a moderator for the discussion.

NOTE: We corrected a misspelling in the name of Senator Inouye.
