Dominic Yagong
The 1977 graduate of Honoka‘a High School was first elected to the Hawaii County Council in 1996, representing the Hamakua, North Hilo and Rural South Hilo district. He served seven terms – off and on – until 2012. He has taken pride in the characterization of the “watch dog” for Hawaii taxpayers, due to his intense and outspoken scrutiny of government spending.
