The day after the festival, a different set of canoes launched into Hilo Bay.
The Honuakai of ‘Aha Punana Leo joined up with the American Association of University Women-Hilo Branch on Sunday to provide 45 minute rides on double-hulled voyaging canoes.
Participants also had a chance to learn opportunities to learn knot-tying, and compete in rope-throwing contests.
Funds raised from the event will be equally split to support educational programs at both AAUW and the Honuakai program.
