Another small change to the bond bill project list: $5 and a half million will go towards a new park development in Puna.

Gone from the list is any specific reference to Hawaiian Paradise Park.

Some residents of HPP baulked at the idea of the county getting involved in a new park in the growing subdivision.

The administration notes that lower Puna is under served when it comes to such public facilities.

The park will include grassed and fenced areas for ball parks, restrooms, a new 3-court covered playcourt structure, onsite water storage and more.

Champion of children’s recreational activities Fred Blas has long advocated for such additional facilities in Puna.

Also on the list: half a million to study PMAR … or the Puna Makai Alternate Roadway, and $100,000 for a New Park Development in Kikala-Keokea near Kalapana.
