At the recent legislators talk story in Hilo, UH_Hilo College of Arts annd Sciences Senator Karla Ahn spoke to lawmakers about the death of her friend, 22 year old Ted Braxton, who was killed by an alleged drunk driver two weeks ago in Hilo.

Ahn tried to rally support for the new “Ted’s Law” proposal. Ahn is proposing that anyone convicted of a DUI should, by law, have their driving privileges revoked.

On Hualalai Street, near the scene of the accident, loved ones have left written messages on a sign set over flowers along the fence.

Police have charged 41 year old Keolaokalani Kailianu with negligent homicide in the first degree, operating a vehicle under the influence of an intoxicant and accident involving death or serious injury in the crash.
