KAILUA-KONA, Hawaii: Every year, over 5000 volunteers hit the streets to assist the Ironman triathletes on the notoriously harsh Kona course.

The Kokua Crew, vital to the success of the race… and the saftey of the athletes.

They work hard through out the day to ensure that things go off as smoothly as possible.

Of course, the end of the race does not bring an end to the work. The volunteers have a massive cleanup to take care of after the 2011 Ironman crosses the finish line.
