HILO, Hawaii: The Bayfront in Downtown Hilo will again be a tumult of sign waving and political positioning on the eve of Hawaii’s primary election.

For the 58th year, historic Mo’oheau Bandstand on Hilo Bay will light up and host the Neighbor Island Grand Rally to celebrate Democratic Party values and leadership, including 40 Democratic hopefuls, just hours before the polls open for Hawaii’s 2012 Primary Election on Sat., August 11.

The rally begins at 3:30 p.m. Fri., Aug. 10 with what may be a mile of sign-wavers along Kam Avenue. There will be chili and rice served plus light entertainment, all leading up to the program that begins at 5 p.m. Emcee will be State Democratic Party Chair – and former Hawai’i County Mayor — Dante Carpenter, and special guest will be Governor Neil Abercrombie. 

The entire community is invited to participate, and to help reach voters in all districts of the island, the rally can be accessed “live” via webcast at http://new.livestream.com/hawaii-democratic-party.
