KOHALA MOUNTAIN, Hawaii: Big Island roads have claimed their 30th victim, after a 76-year-old Kapolei man died from injuries he sustained in an August 29th motorcycle crash on Kohala Mountain Road.

Police say Calvin B.T. Hoo ran off the right side of roadway near the 18th mile marker and lost control of the motorcycle.

Hoo was flown to Queens Medical Center on Oahu, where he died on September 14th. An autopsy has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death.

As the 30th traffic fatality on the Hawaii Island this year, Hoo’s death doubles the number of people killed on island roads at this same time last year.
