PAPAIKOU, Hawaii: Baker Toms, the popular Papaikou stop for malasadas, has closed its doors.
The store has been open for 10 years.
57 year old Rand Walls, the man behind the bakery business, blames a sharp increase in rent at the location for the closure.
The eccentric Walls recently made a run for mayor, where he promised delicious malasadas for all county workers if elected.
Walls fell short in his mayoral quest, getting only 227 votes.
A sign outside the store suggests that Baker Tom is entertaining the idea of moving to another location.
