WAIKOLOA, Hawaii: Friday evening, its the return of Mealani’s “Taste of the Hawaiian Range and Agricultural Festival” at the Hilton Waikoloa.
This is the 17th time the annual event will be held.
You can be sure that hundreds will storm the grounds of Hilton for this premier showcase of the isle’s grass-fed beef industry, which brings together local ranchers, farmers, restaurateurs and eager eaters to celebrate a bounty of locally produced food.
Last year included presentations from panelists like pork producer Lloyd Case, and a “How to Cook Grass-Fed Beef 101” seminar with Derek Kurisu of KTA Super Stores.
This year’s presenter will be James Babian, executive chef at Four Seasons Resort Hualalai. The presentation includes sampling.
Over 30 of the state’s top chefs will dazzle diners from 6 to 8 p.m. with delectable dishes using grass-fed beef, pork, lamb, goat, mutton and wild boar-plus a cornucopia of fresh island fruit, veggies, honey, spices and beverages.
