Fire below Hualalai Elderly Home in Kona
KONA, Hawaii: A brush fire between Queen Ka’ahumanu Highway and Kuakini Highway has been contained, reports Hawaii County Civil Defense.
The blaze created havoc on Hualalai Road and smoke was visible from across Kailua Village on Friday afternoon. Video shot by Angy Chesler of vipconcepts.com shows the firefighting effort taking place below the Hulalai Elderly Home.
Civil defense officials said no homes were endangered in a message distributed to the public just before 3 p.m.
Officials say motorists are still advised to exercise caution as emergency personnel continue to work in the area.
