KONA, Hawaii: America’s Medal of Honor awardees were welcomed to Hawaii Island with aloha at Kona International Airport on Sunday.

The group is part of the Medal of Honor Society that met this week in Honolulu for its annual convention. They are flying to Hawaii Island for three days of post-convention activities.

A water cannon salute greeted the Hawaiian Airlines aircraft carrying the heroes.

Once they disembarked, the awardees received the traditional Hawaiian style hello, which included music, hula and a fresh flower lei courtesy of the Big Island Visitors Bureau.
