HILO, Hawaii: Shocking news of a double homicide, right here on the 600 block of Leilani Street between Manono and Hinano Streets.

Police responded to several calls of gunshots at around 11:20 p.m. on monday night, where they discovered two victims with apparent gunshot wounds.

Both victims were transported to the Hilo Medical Center where they were pronounced dead. Police did not say who the victims were.

Sean Ivan Masa Matsumoto, 34 of Hilo, was taken into custody at the scene on suspicion of first degree murder and two counts of second degree murder.

Polic say two children were also at the residence at the time of the shooting, but they were not injured and are now under the care of family members.

Detectives from the Area I Criminal Investigation Section were still on the scene the next day. There were some road closures as the police conducted their investigation.
