KEALAKEKUA, Hawaii: The father of Tyler Madoff  is headed back to Hawaii for the first time since the tragic loss of his son, who was swept out to sea during a hike on Kaawaloa Flats at Kealakekua Bay on July 4, 2012.

The Journal News reports that Michael Madoff will be back for a March 5 court hearing in a lawsuit seeking to hold the tour group operators responsible for his 15-year-old son’s death.

Madoff and his wife flew to Hawaii Island after the incident, even holding a press conference while on the island.

The lawsuit alleges that the Colorado-based “Bold Earth Teen Adventures” and the local Hawaii Pack and Paddle company, ignored the high surf advisories when they took 12 teens on a shoreline expedition to an off-limits section of the bay.

The Hawaii Pack and Paddle crew shared their memory of the day after the incident, taking a news camera man to the scene of the accident.

The local kayak tour company had their permit revoked by the Board of Land and Natural Resources following the July 4th incident.
