HILO, Hawaii: An opihi picker who got into trouble in the waters off King’s Landing has been rescued and taken to Hilo Medical Center.

The Hawaii County Fire Department reports arriving at the Pumaile area fronting King’s Landing by 8:15 a.m. where the man had been pulled to the rocky shore by bystanders. He was then transported away by rescue crews, who administered CPR and advanced life support en route to the hospital.

The cause of the mishap is unknown at this time. We will have more information when it becomes available.
