ALERT – Hawaii County Civil Defense

UPDATE: 8:00 p.m.

The Hawaii Police Department reports that Alii Drive between Royal Poinciana Drive and the Lyman Beach area have opened one lane of traffic flow. Utility crews continue to work on repairing a downed pole. Traffic is being allowed in all directions however motorists will experience delays and are advised to avoid this area and to use alternate routes if possible. Traffic delays and utility work is expected to continue through midnight tonight.

Instruction: Expect delays and if possible avoid the area or use alternate routes.

UPDATE: 3 p.m.

The Hawaii Police Department reports that Alii Drive between Royal Poinciana Drive and the Lyman Beach area is closed to all traffic. This road closure is necessary for HELCO work crews to repair a downed utility pole. Traffic is being detoured through the Royal Poinciana Drive and King Kamehameha III Rd. Motorists are advised to avoid this area and to use alternate routes if possible. This closure is expected to remain through 4:00 PM today.

Instruction: Avoid area and use alternate routes if possible. Expect traffic delays. Detours are in place at Kamehameha III and Royal Poinciana.

FIRST MESSAGE

The Hawaii Police Department reports a downed utility pole on Alii Drive in the area of Royal Poinciana Drive in Kona. Utility crews are on scene. Traffic flow is limited to one lane only and motorist are advised to use alternate routes if possible. Traffic delays are expected to continue through 5:00 PM today.

Instruction: Anticipate delays and use alternate routes if possible.
