WAIPIO VALLEY, Hawaii – The search continues for a 62-year-old Honokaʻa man who was reported missing on Tuesday.

Kevin Devlin, also known as Shawn Devlin, was last seen on Monday, May 13, in Waipio Valley, where he reportedly told fellow campers he was going for a swim. His belongings were found near the shore, but he was gone.

The fire department described the search in a dispatch sent out Wednesday evening.

“Rescue Company 2 resumed its search of a missing swimmer in Waipio Valley Bay. Chopper 1 conducted aerial shoreline searches up to 1 mile off shore from Laupahoehoe Nui to Hapuu Bay. SCUBA dive operations were conducted between Waialeale and Waimanu Bay. Shoreline ground search in Waipio Valley was conducted across the beach area. All searches with negative findings of the missing swimmer. U.S. Coast Guard also assisted in the search. Search operations has been suspended until first light tomorrow.”

Devlin is described as Caucasian, 5-foot-10, 160 pounds with short, thin white hair.

Police ask that anyone with information on his whereabouts call Officer Dion Santiago at 775-7533 or the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311.

Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona. All Crime Stoppers information is kept confidential.
