HILO, Hawaii – Hawaii Invasive Species Awareness Week is well underway, and the Big Island Invasive Species Committee has been hard at work.

We caught up with a small crew taking care of some young albizia along the drainage ditches of the Puainako Street Extension in Hilo on Thursday.

There is another event planned for Saturday in Pun’s Black Sands Subdivision. Starting with a 9:30 morning meet-up at the Black Sands Community Park on Iolani Street, the training workshop will teach the public how to control albizia in their own backyards.
