STORY SUMMARY

CERT volunteers visit the Pahoa property of Jeremy Lutes during their door to door rounds on Saturday.

(ABOVE VIDEO) Filmed by Lynn Beittel of Visionary Video in Pahoa on October 27 – the same day civil defense began their door to door notice of evacuation due to projected path of the June 27 lava flow.

INSIGHTS

Part two of our video series featuring the way of life for those in the path of the lava flow. In this story, a visit by Community Emergency Response Team volunteers to the property of Pahoa resident Jeremy Lutes is captured on video. Lutes is in the possible path of the June 27 lava flow, but the news comes as no surprise. Lutes helps the team by pointing out on a map abandoned cars left in the fields surrounding his property, which could become a greater hazard should they be engulfed by lava. On Saturday, civil defense, HELCO, and CERT volunteers were going door to door to spread word of an impending evacuation notice.
