HILO, Hawaii – A new logo for Downtown Hilo was unveiled on Thursday night during the Downtown Improvement Association Annual General Membership Meeting.

Hilo-based, family operated Sig Zane Designs was commissioned to create the new design, which would lead Downtown Hilo into a new era of marketing. Before showing the logo to the public for the first time, Sig Zane, and later his son Ku’hao, explained how the imagery was derived using the makawalu process; viewing things on eight levels.
