Hawaii County Cultural Resources Commission To Visit Honokaa
HONOKA’A – The Hawaii County Cultural Resources Commission was set to visit Honokaa Wednesday in regards to the past, present and future historic preservation initiatives in the old Hamakua plantation town.
Afterwards, the commission was scheduled to hold a public meeting at the North Hawaiʻi Education & Research Center. A presentation on Honoka’a by Dr. Ross Stephenson was on the agenda.
We recently spoke to a cultural practitioner Joshua Lanakila Mangauil about Honokaa’s history. Mangauil is working on establishing the Hawaiian Cultural Center of Hamakua on Mamane Street.
