STORY SUMMARY

HILO (BIVN) - This district by district breakdown includes last minute additions for parks in HPP, Waimea, and Mahukona approved by the Hawaii County Council on Wednesday.

HILO, Hawaii – After passing a county operating budget on Wednesday, the Hawaii County Council passed a Capital Budget containing 87 projects at a cost of nearly $208 million, before today’s amendments.

Puna councilman Greggor Ilagan and Kohala councilwoman Margaret Wille were able to amend the Capital Budget to include a few other projects. Ilagan included $5.5 million for a district park in Hawaiian Paradise Park, while Wille added $5 million to finish the first phase of the Waimea District Park as it was originally planned, and $7 million for Ke Ala Kahawai O’ Waimea. The council also approved Wille’s amendment adding $2.5 million for a Mahukona Beach Park renovation.

Here is a list of projects broken down by district. Funds allocated to departments for unspecified projects, like the $4 million for Department of Public Works facilities repair and maintenance, are not included in the list.
