HILO, Hawaii – The 2016 Hawaii Island Veterans Day Parade will take place on November 5th, and recently the Hawaii County Council voted to provide a couple of grants to the Big Island Resource Conservation and Development Council to assist with the related expenses.

Col. Debra Lewis (retired) – who is now taking an active role as the chairwoman of the event – was on hand for the September 7th council meeting in Hilo to give testimony in support.

Lewis mentioned this year’s event will honor the service of the late State Senator Gil Kahele, who served in the United States Marine Corps.
