HAWAII ISLAND – Four beach parks in West Hawaii have been closed due to the high surf.

Hawaii County Civil Defense has this list of closures:

  • Mahukona Beach Park
  • La’aloa Beach Park
  • Kahalu’u Beach Park and
  • Hapuna Beach Park

In addition, Pu’uhonua o Hōnaunau National Historical Park is temporarily closed due to high surf.

At 9:21 a.m., the National Weather Service cancelled the High Surf Warning and replaced it with a High Surf Advisory. “High surf will continue to lower through the weekend and drop below advisory by Sunday morning,” forecasters say, “but remain at moderate levels.”
