HILO (BIVN) - The man was found lying supine on rocks at the edge of the pond below. It took a county helicopter to get him out.

HILO, Hawaii – A man who apparently jumped off the top of the 80 ft. Rainbow Falls in Hilo was rescued today by the Hawaii County Fire Department.

According to a fire dispatch, the male party jumped off landmark Wailuku River waterfall at around 2:45 p.m. and was found lying supine on rocks at the edge of the pond below, “motioning to bystanders” at the look out.

The man was extricated by a county helicopter and transported to the Hilo Medical Center Emergency Room for evaluation.
