VIDEO: Kona Improvement Projects Voted Into CIP Budget

STORY SUMMARY

HILO, Hawaii - The Hawaii County Council added several Kona-side capitol improvement projects into the budget during a special meeting on June 5, 2017.

(BIVN) – As a part of the 2017-18 Capital Budget, Hawaii County Councilmembers approved numerous projects that would be to Kona’s infrastructure wish list.

Among the projects added by Kona’s Councilmember Dru “Mamo” Kanuha:

  • $13.08 million for the Lako Street Extension to Ali’i Drive project
  • $17.2 million for the Nani Kailua Extension project
  • $6.4 million for Hawai‘i Belt Road Improvements, from Honalo Junction to Onouli Road
  • $600,000 for the Royal Poinciana Drive Sidewalks and Drainage project

Councilwoman Karen Eoff also introduced an amendment for $2.619 million for “North Kona Water Source Development” Waiaha II project.
