STORY SUMMARY

HAWAII ISLAND - The southern margin of the flow remains roughly 150 yards from the Pohoiki Boat Ramp at Isaac Hale Park, emergency officials report.

(BIVN) – Fissure 8 continues to erupt into the lava channel flowing to the ocean entry at Ahalanui, officials say, while the southern margin of the flow remains about 150 yards from the Pohoiki Boat Ramp at Isaac Hale Park.

Earthquakes continue at Kilauea Summit, building to the next collapse / explosion event. State Highways requests motorists on Highway 11 between the 28 and 32 Mile Markers stay on the pavement and to be on the alert for changing roadway conditions, civil defense says. Residents are also reminded to check utility connections of gas, water, and electricity after earthquakes.

“Sulphur Dioxide and VOG levels will be elevated today due to a change in the wind direction,” Hawai‘i County Civil Defense said in this morning’s message. “Do take precautions to limit exposure and stay indoors or leave the area if levels make breathing difficult.

We will update this page with the latest USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory report when it becomes available.
