STORY SUMMARY

HAWAIʻI ISLAND - A High Surf Advisory remains in effect until 6 p.m. Friday, the National Weather Service reports.

(BIVN) – A High Surf Advisory continues for east-facing shores of Hawaiʻi Island, today through Friday evening.

The National Weather Service in Honolulu says strong trades will continue to produce rough surf, with wave heights reaching 4 to 8 feet today.

“Expect strong breaking waves, shore break, and strong longshore and rip currents making swimming difficult and dangerous,” forecasters said this morning. “Beachgoers, swimmers, and surfers should heed all advice given by ocean safety officials and exercise caution. Know your limits; when in doubt, don`t go out.”
