(BIVN) – The age-old Japanese tradition of hanami, or “cherry blossom viewing party”, was once again at the heart of the annual Waimea Cherry Blossom Heritage Festival in Waimea this year.
Visitors packed the town to take part in the festivities held at various venues across town, from the busy Parker Ranch Center to the historic cherry trees at Church Row Park. Each location was marked by a pink banner, as per the event tradition.
The above video captures a few of the sights seen at the Saturday event, from the blooming cherry trees, to the keiki train ride, to Mochi Tsuki Pounding with the Kona Hongwanji Mission outside the Fireside Food Court.
