STORY SUMMARY

HAWAIʻI - If you have an emergency, call the Police non-emergency number 808-935-3311 with a landline - not a cell phone - or go to the nearest Fire Station for assistance.

(BIVN) – The 911 Emergency Service number is not working on Hawaiʻi island.

The Hawaiʻi Police Department reports impacts from Hurricane Lala are affecting both radio and telephone communications. As a result, the 911 Emergency Service telephone number is currently not working.

“If you have an emergency that requires Police, Fire, or Ambulance response call the Police non-emergency number 808-935-3311 with a landline (not a cell phone) or go to the nearest Fire Station for assistance,” the Hawaiʻi County Civil Defense stated in a Monday morning alert message.

“We are working to correct this problem,” the County stated. “Thank you for you patience.”
