(BIVN) – A large number of Hawaiʻi County Parks and Recreation facilities will remain closed on Wednesday following the severe impacts of Hurricane Lala over the weekend.
On Tuesday, the County produced a detailed list of all the closures:
Closed Due to No Power/Water
- Swimming Pools: NAS, Laupāhoehoe, Kohala, Pāhoa, Honoka‘a
- Kahuku Park
- Mt. View Gym
- Pāpa‘ikou Gym
- Kula‘imano Community Center
- Pāpa‘aloa Annex
- Honomū Gym
- Hisaoka Gym & Kohala Intergenerational Center
- Gilbert Kahele Recreation Area’s Cabins and Bunkhouse
- Laupāhoehoe Point Beach Park
- Laupāhoehoe Gym
- Pāhoa Neighborhood Facility
- Senior Centers at Pāhoa, HOVE, Nā‘ālehu, Pāhala, Pāhoa, Honoka‘a, Kohala and Kona Imin

Punaluʻu Beach Park and Whittington Beach Park camping and pavilion permits have been cancelled through Sunday, August 23.
The County noted the Pana‘ewa Rainforest Zoo and Gardens and the Hilo Municipal Golf Course will be open for normal operations.
