(BIVN) – The Essential Water Use Only Notice has been cancelled for customers in the Waiʻōhinu-Nāʻālehu area of Kaʻū, the Hawaiʻi County Department of Water Supply (DWS) announced Tuesday, and replaced with a Water Restriction Notice.
Customers in the affected area are now required to reduce water use by at least 25 percent.
The affected areas include Nāʻālehu, Waiʻōhinu, Discovery Harbor, Mark Twain Subdivision, Green Sands Subdivision, and the South Point Road area.
“Water restriction measures are necessary to maintain adequate water levels in the storage tanks while DWS continues repairs to its water infrastructure damaged by Hurricane Lala,” the water department said. “DWS asks customers to use water wisely and not waste it.”
