The 58th annual Hilo Orchid Society Show and Sale began on Friday at the Edith Kanaka‘ole Stadium in Hilo. Thousands of unique orchids cultivated by Hawaii Island (aka “The Orchid Isle”) growers were on display.
This year’s event included live entertainment in the afternoon and refreshments.
This year’s theme is “Jackpot of Orchids” and giant prop playing cards and rolling slot machine framed the flower displays.
The event wraps up by 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 6th. Admission is $4, and kids 12 and under are free

The 59th Annual Hilo Orchid Society Show: ORCHID SAFARI takes place August 5th, 6th and 7th at Edith Kanaka’ole Stadium.
