STORY SUMMARY

SOUTH KOHALA, Hawaiʻi - A Water Restriction Notice requires affected customers to reduce water use by at least 25 percent, officials say.

(BIVN) – Ongoing repairs to water wells serving the South Kohala region have prompted a Water Restriction Notice for customers in the area.

The Hawaiʻi County Department of Water Supply says the affected area includes Kawaihae, Kawaihae Harbor, Hāpuna Beach Resort, Mauna Kea Beach Resort, Puakō, and the Mauna Lani Resort.

A Water Restriction Notice requires affected customers to reduce water use by at least 25 percent, officials say. Irrigation customers are required to reduce use by at least 50 percent.

“Reducing water use will help to maintain water levels in the storage tanks for all customers,” a Water Supply news release stated. “DWS asks customers to use water wisely and to not waste it.”

“DWS thanks affected customers for their understanding and kokua,” the notice added.
