Pāhala Man Arrested For Alleged Assault, Pointing Gun At Victims

KAʻŪ, Hawaiʻi - The suspect has been charged with first-degree terroristic threatening, third-degree assault, and abuse of a family household member.

(BIVN) – A 31-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with an incident at a Pāhala shopping complex on Friday, October 2.

Police say Jerry “Mana” Ke of Pāhala was arrested at the scene for multiple alleged offenses involving several victims. From the Hawaiʻi Police Department:

Just before 1:00 p.m. Friday, Ka‘ū patrol officers responded to a shopping center in the 96-3100 block of Pikake Street for a report of a man pointing a gun on someone.

Upon arrival, officers contacted a 25-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman, who reported that a man, later identified Jerry “Mana” Ke, had pointed a pellet gun directly at them in separate instances. The male victim reported Ke pointed the gun directly at his head.

During the incident, Ke physically assaulted the female victim, as well as a bystander who tried to intervene. When a female family member of Ke’s arrived on scene, she was also assaulted by Ke.

Police recovered an air rifle and unknown caliber pellet at the scene.

Ke was charged with the following offenses:

  • Two counts of first-degree terroristic threatening
  • Two counts of third-degree assault
  • Abuse of a family household member

Ke’s total bail was set at $13,000 and he remains in police custody in lieu of bail. His initial court appearance was scheduled for Monday, October 5, in Kona District Court, police say.
