HILO, Hawaii – The fight against little fire ants will close Richardson Ocean Park in Hilo on Thursday, March 27th. The Hawaii County Department of Parks and Recreation will apply a second round of baiting treatments designed to combat fire ant infestations.

The topic was discussed at a recent Hawaii County Council meeting. Lawmakers also asked about the chemicals being deployed to control the ants.
Richardson’s Ocean Park will reopen at 7 a.m. the morning following the March 27th treatment. Signs have been posted to inform park patrons of the temporary shutdown.
