HILO, Hawaii – A treasured county park in Puna could be expanded, thanks to the Public Access, Open Space and Natural Resources fund.

On Monday, the Hawaii County Council Committee on Finance gave the go ahead for the administration to negotiate for a two-acre parcel next to Ahalanui Park and the Hot Pond.

Puna councilmember Greggor Ilagan brought the measure forward.

Not every member of the public was excited at the idea, however.
