PRESS RELEASE, Hawaii County

The Hawaii County Department of Parks and Recreation will break ground for a new playground at Isaac K. Hale Beach Park at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, October 28.

The new playground will include a deck tower with a roof, four slides, climbing elements and swings. A construction contract has been awarded to Goodfellow Brothers, Inc.

The $199,000 project includes van accessible parking stalls at the existing parking area, an accessible walkway from the parking area to the play area, barriers between the parking area and the play area, and landscaping around the new play area to integrate with the existing camping area.

Fifth District Councilwoman Emily Naeole will offer the blessing.

The playground is expected to be complete by February 25, 2011.
