PAHOA, Hawaii – Hawaii County officials have established an Incident Command Center and Informational Resource Center at the Pāhoa Community Center. The two centers serve different functions as Puna is threatened by a lava flow.
The Incident Command Center is much like the Emergency Operations Center in Hilo. Its off limits to the public. But in an adjacent building, the Informational Resource Center welcomes residents and provides an opportunity to share first hand information.
Residents are invited to the information center from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday this week for answers to their questions.
The county says the next lava flow community update meeting will be held with representatives from Hawaii County Civil Defense and the USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory on Thursday, September 18 at 6:30 p.m. at the Pāhoa High School Cafeteria.
