HAWAII ISLAND – Hawaii County Mayor Billy Kenoi talked about the challenge in dealing with two hurricane threats, one after another, during a lull in the action on Wednesday evening.
Hawaii Island had seen the worst of Tropical Storm Madeline by the time Kenoi spoke at the Civil Defense Emergency Operations Center. Although the county response to the weather event was focused on Madeline, officials were aware there would be a need to deal with the approach of Hurricane Lester immediately after.
Hawaii Island is now under another Hurricane Watch as Lester makes its way towards the islands.
