OOKALA (BIVN) - Poindexter is planning to hold an Ookala Community Meeting next week and hopes to have finalized plans for the meeting by Monday.

O’OKALA, Hawaii – The recent flash flooding in East Hawaii that washed mud across Highway 19 in O’okala below Big Island Dairy has prompted Hamakua’s county councilwoman to take action.

District 1 Councilmember Valerie Poindexter posted on Facebook that she met with Hawaii County Civil Defense about the heavy rains and damages to people’s property from the water run off in O’okala.

Poindexter asked residents to send videos and pictures of any related damage to her email address: valerie.poindexter@hawaiicounty.gov.
