Voice of Stephanie Salazar
Bull Kailiawa and ohana have done it again.
Pahala’s coffee growing family have been awarded one of ten “coffees of the year” awards at the prestigious Specialty Coffee Association of America and the Roasters Guild competition.
The Kaiwialas have done well in the competition before, and shared and invited Big Island Video News up to the farm on “cloud rest” high over Pahala after winning big in 2009.
More than 121 specialty coffee submissions, representing 17 countries, competed in the annual event to be recognized as the best specialty coffees from around the globe.
The coffee from Ka’u was the only one from Hawaii to crack the top 10.
Now, the ten coffees will be judged by attendees at a SCAA event this week in Houston in order to determine a “People’s Choice Award”
