(BIVN) – Although much has been forgotten about traditional Hawaiian relationships with the ‘aina, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park Ranger Noah Gomes has been doing some important research. He recently gave a talk on traditional Hawaiian bird catching during an After Dark At The Park presentation: Ke Kāpili Manu Kahiko: Traditional Hawaiian Bird Catching.

The work of Ranger Noah Gomes was recognized in June, after his research led to the proper, historical naming of the Hawai‘i Creeper, ‘Alawī.
